What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things, like the fact you dismissed a notice, or that you are logged in. "Similar technologies" (local storage, etc.) work in comparable ways. Some cookies are essential for a site to function; others are optional and may only be set with your consent.
The short version
This website sets no cookies of its own. It is a static site: there is no login, no shopping basket, no session to remember, and no preference we store on your device. The only cookies you may encounter here come from Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site, and they are listed below.
Why there is no cookie banner
Because there is nothing to ask you about. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party embed that profiles you. Our visitor statistics are collected without cookies (see below), and the Cloudflare cookies that may appear are strictly necessary for security. Under Art 6(1)(f) GDPR and § 165 Abs. 3 TKG 2021 those require no consent, so we do not interrupt you to request it. If we ever add anything that does need consent, we will ask for it before it loads and list it here first.
Cookies you may encounter
| Cookie / technology | Set by | Purpose | Category | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Distinguishes people from automated traffic, so the site stays available and the contact form is not abused. | Strictly necessary | 30 minutes |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that a security challenge was passed, so you are not challenged repeatedly. | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Cloudflare | Bot protection on the contact form only. Turnstile is designed not to track you across sites and sets no advertising cookie. | Strictly necessary | Duration of the check |
These are set by Cloudflare as part of delivering and protecting the site, not by us, and none of them identifies you or follows you to other websites.
Visitor statistics without cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It is a deliberately privacy-preserving service: it sets no cookie, stores no identifier on your device, and does not follow you across websites. It cannot build a profile of you, and we cannot use it to recognise you on a later visit. That is exactly why it needs no consent and why this site has no banner.
We previously used Google Analytics. It has been removed.
What we do not use
No advertising networks. No social media tracking pixels. No cross-site tracking of any kind. No consent management platform, because there is nothing here to manage. If we ever introduce any of these, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
Maps, videos and social links
Map views on this site are drawn with OpenFreeMap, an open map service that sets no cookies and requires no account. There are no embedded videos anywhere on this site. Where we link to YouTube, Instagram or Facebook, those are ordinary links: nothing from those companies loads until you choose to click, and from that point their own policies apply.
How to manage or disable cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Look under Settings → Privacy. Because this site sets none of its own, blocking cookies here will not break anything you can see, although blocking the Cloudflare security cookies may mean you are challenged more often.
Helpful browser guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
The mobile app
This page is about the website. The Introducing Salzburg app does not use cookies at all; what it stores on your phone, and what it sends us, is set out in sections 11 to 16 of our Privacy Policy.
Legal basis
The strictly-necessary Cloudflare cookies are set on the basis of technical necessity and our legitimate interest in a secure, available site (Art 6(1)(f) GDPR; § 165 Abs. 3 TKG 2021). Cookieless visitor statistics rest on the same legitimate interest. Any non-essential cookie, should we ever set one, would be set only with your prior consent (Art 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you could withdraw at any time.
Changes
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever our use of cookies changes. The "last updated" date below shows the current version.
