Abbé Joseph Bullinger

priest1744 - 1810

One of Leopold Mozart's most trusted friends. Bullinger's correspondence with Leopold and Wolfgang is among the most candid in the entire Mozart documentary record. Leopold wrote to him in tones of absolute frankness that he used with almost no one else.

Franz Wasner

priest1905 - 1992

The real musical director of the Trapp Family Singers. The character of Max Detweiler in The Sound of Music is loosely based on Wasner. He shaped the ensemble's repertoire, conducted their tours, and was the artistic intelligence behind their professional career. Buried in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Joseph Mohr

priest1792 - 1848

The man who wrote the words to Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht (Silent Night). Born illegitimate at Steingasse 9 in Salzburg's historic right-bank quarter, Mohr brought the poem to Franz Xaver Gruber in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, and the two performed it together for the first time on Christmas Eve 1818.
