A baroque gateway and tunnel bored 131 metres through the solid rock of the Mönchsberg, commissioned by Archbishop Sigismund von Schrattenbach and completed 1767. Austria's oldest road tunnel. Designed by Johann Elias von Geyer with portals by Wolfgang Hagenauer.
