The Story

Linzer Gasse is one of the more enjoyable streets in Salzburg: a long, slightly curved lane on the right bank of the Salzach, lined with independent shops, bakeries, and restaurants, running parallel to the river and connecting the old Capuchin quarter with the main pedestrian routes to the Altstadt bridges. It is genuinely local in feel in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelmed by tourism.

The Gablerbräu building takes its name from a brewing and innkeeping history stretching back centuries. The Leonardo group has converted it into a hotel that wears that history lightly, offering contemporary amenities inside the historic shell rather than themed nostalgia. The location is the real asset: close enough to the Altstadt to walk across, far enough from the most tourist-dense streets to feel like a neighbourhood rather than a hotel zone.

• Linzer Gasse is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main Altstadt bridges over the Salzach.
• The Mirabell Gardens are approximately 10 minutes on foot heading north along the right bank.
• The street itself has good independent cafes and restaurants for breakfast and evening meals.
