Half of the most prolific theatre architecture partnership in the Habsburg Empire. Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer designed approximately 48 theatres across Central and Eastern Europe between 1873 and 1914, including the Salzburger Landestheater (1892), Salzburg's main theatre for drama, opera, and ballet outside the Festival.
Their approach combined grand neo-baroque civic architecture with practical stage engineering. The Landestheater has served the city's cultural life continuously for over 130 years.
