Part of the first wave of Italian-Swiss craftsmen who turned Salzburg baroque. Hans Waldburger came from the Graubunden canton in Switzerland during Wolf Dietrich's transformative building programme and contributed to the sculptural decoration of the Salzburg Cathedral site and other early baroque projects.
He settled permanently in Salzburg, one of the many foreign artists who arrived on commissions and never left, becoming part of the city's creative fabric. His work places him at the very beginning of the baroque identity that defines Salzburg today.
