Guesthouse

Berglandhotel Salzburg

Snapshot

A long-established, family-run hotel on Rupertgasse in the Neustadt, operating an adults-only policy and decorated with individually chosen artworks in every room. The Neustadt location is well-positioned for Mirabell Gardens, the main station, and the Altstadt bridges, and the hotel has the calm, personal quality that comes from more than a century of the same family managing it.

The Story

The Berglandhotel has been on Rupertgasse since around 1912, placing it firmly in the category of hotels that have outlasted everything the city has thrown at them, two world wars, waves of tourism, and the steady churn of chains and boutique competitors. It is still family-run, and that continuity shows. The staff speak multiple languages, remember guests, and give the kind of honest local advice that is harder to find in larger properties.

The 19 rooms are individually furnished, with artworks from the owner’s collection chosen specifically for each space. Rooms range from compact singles to superior doubles with king-size beds and private bathrooms with rain showers. The hotel is adults-only, a policy that produces a noticeably different atmosphere: quieter corridors, a calmer breakfast room, a lounge where you can actually read.

A sun terrace and solarium at the back of the building are rare amenities for a hotel of this size. The building is about 5 kilometres from the airport, so it works as a first or last night before or after a flight, without being primarily a transit hotel.

The Neustadt location on Rupertgasse is practical. Mirabell Gardens is around 550 metres away, the main station is accessible without a long walk, and the Staatsbrucke bridge to the Altstadt is within easy reach. The residential street keeps the immediate environment quieter than a main-road address.
