Mauthausen Memorial

Mauthausen was a Category III Nazi concentration camp, the designation reserved for prisoners deemed beyond rehabilitation and therefore marked for the harshest treatment and certain death. Between 1938 and 1945, more than 190,000 people were imprisoned here; at least 90,000 were killed.
