The Story

Most visitors who want a guided tour of Salzburg end up on one of Panorama’s large coaches. Bob’s Special Tours is the answer for everyone else. Founded in 1976, the company built its reputation on small electric minibuses, groups capped at 19 people, and a genuinely personal approach to guiding. One guide, everyone by name, the freedom to pause for a photo or adjust the route when a group wants more time somewhere.

The base is Rudolfskai 38 on the river. Departures run 365 days a year, half-day tours at 9 am and 2 pm, full-day at 9 am. The flagship is the Sound of Music tour, visiting filming locations including Mirabell Gardens, Nonnberg Abbey, Schloss Leopoldskron, Hellbrunn Palace, and the wedding church at Mondsee. A separate full-day version adds lunch and deeper context on the 1965 production. Day trips reach Hallstatt, the salt mines at Bad Dürrnberg, Berchtesgaden, and the Salzkammergut lakes. Private groups can book in other languages on request.
