Another Hagenauer from the Mozart family's inner circle. Johann Baptist was the son of Lorenz Hagenauer, the Mozart family's landlord, and brother of Dominicus Hagenauer, for whom Mozart composed the Dominicus Mass. He grew up in the same house on the Getreidegasse as the young Mozart family.
Trained in Vienna under court sculptor Balthasar Ferdinand Moll, he returned to Salzburg and created numerous works for the city's churches, including the high altar at Nonnberg Abbey and sculptural work at Salzburg Cathedral. His works are still seen by every visitor to those places.
